Don started his business career in the summer of 1992 after completing his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan. He majored in Finance, but spent seven years playing post secondary football in Saskatoon splitting the years between the Saskatoon Hilltops and University of Saskatchewan Huskies. With time spent in practice and the gym, people commented he majored in Football and minored in finance.
In 1992, he started in the business with London Life. He learned the Life Insurance trade along with financial planning training, starting out as a new recruit. He moved from London Life to Sanderson Securities Ltd in 1998. He worked with the local Securities firm from 1998-2001. In the spring of 1999 he obtained the Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) designation. Later that year he completed the Securities Course and trading authorization. In 2001, Don moved over and joined the Financial Planning firm of Brian Mallard and Associates.
Don spends most of his free time in family life. His wife Susan helps him in the business, and they love to spend time together at their family cabin at Emma Lake. He also has been active over the years in his three teenage children’s sporting activities, coaching and managing a variety of teams in basketball, baseball and hockey. Joe, Danni and Alli keep Don and Susan very busy.
